The Red Demon Cried
The century-long battle comes to an end as Dolly falls to Brogy's axe attack.
There, Mr.3 chuckles that Brogy has already fallen to his powers. Usopp stands
up to protect Vivi. Luffy notices shadows coming out of the forest - Mr.5 and
Miss Valentine are back, with Vivi's bird Karuu. Usopp and Vivi set to fight the
two officers from Baroque Works, but prove to be no match for the two Devil
Nut-powered officers. Mr.5 tells Vivi that they were only there to capture her,
on order from Mr.3 - the Candle Man who ate the DleDle Nut and can create and
shape wax to whatever form he pleases.

Luffy vs. Mr.3
Luffy, Usopp, and Karuu arrive at the scene, and Luffy is set on destroying that
giant candle creator. Zoro stands with his sword pointed towards the sky; when Nami
asks what he is doing, he replies that if he were to solidify as a human candle, he
wanted to solidify in the pose he was assuming now. Nami tells him to do something
with his bleeding leg if he had the time to do so, and says that it was what he got
for trying to cut his legs off to escape. Zoro counters that he cut his legs off
to fight... Vivi looks at all of this and wonders why the two don't feel danger now
that Luffy was there. Mr.5 offers to finish Luffy off; Mr.3 laughs this off, saying
that our hero was there because Mr.5's attacks were not strong enough. Mr.3, with his
CANDLE LOCK, puts Luffy's legs in a bind. Luffy takes this as a good opportunity, and
after evading the second CANDLE LOCK, he reaches over and wraps his left arm around one
of the four swords holding Dolly down. Luffy, using centripetal force to unwind and
catapult himself to the candlemaker, hits the central post of the candlemaker with a
new attack - GUMGUM HAMMER (tonkachi). This puts the three in even more danger, as the
wax particles fly down on Vivi, Zoro, and Nami at an accelerated pace now that the wax
maker was closer to base... and Luffy finally realizes that they can't move to safety.
Mr.3 attacks Luffy with a spear-shaped wax -- Usopp tries to stop it with a FIRE STAR,
but the miniature bomb gets eaten by Mr.5. Luffy sets to destroy the candlemaker with
a GUMGUM BAZOOKA, and Mr.3 blocks him with a CANDLE WALL. Luffy then purposefully lets
a CANDLE LOCK land on his right arm, and uses that as a GUMGUM HAMMER to crack the
CANDLE WALL *and* knock Mr.3 out. Nami smiles and asks Luffy to destroy the candlemaker,
and Luffy refuses - saying that he didn't want to save the lives of his crew. As Nami
wonders what is going on, Miss Golden-Week declares her attack as COLORS TRAP...
Episode 124 (WJ #12, 2000)
The Tea is Delicious
Zoro, Nami, and Vivi try to encourage Luffy to undo the wax-maker, but Luffy keeps
asserting that he just doesn't feel up to it. Usopp, aboard Karuu, rush over to the
scene to help Luffy, but gets barred by Mr.5 and Miss Valentine. Miss Valentine
points out to Usopp that Luffy is standing on paint, but Mr.5 tries to blow him away
without explaining the paint. Usopp tries to run away aboard Karuu, but the bird took
off without him. Meanwhile, Vivi realizes that Luffy's behavior is caused by Miss
GoldenWeek's actions. Miss GoldenWeek's ability is to give subliminal meanings to
others through paint, and the black paint is used as the color of betrayal. Vivi
realizes what this means, and tells Luffy to stay still inside the circle. Luffy
betrays Vivi and steps out, but promptly starts laughing as Miss GoldenWeek paints
"laughter yellow" paint on his shirt back. Just then, Karuu (still carrying Usopp)
bumps into Luffy, rubbing some of the paint off (to send LUffy back to normal). Luffy
sets forth to attack, but the next color, "toreador red", makes Luffy attack only the
red painted circle. While Luffy is stuck attacking the circle, Miss GoldenWeek combines
the yellow on Luffy's back with blue to create "calming green" - and Luffy starts having
a picnic with her! All the while, Mr.5 gets fed up with Usopp's agility, pulls out a
flintlock pistol, and fires. Usopp manages to send a flame slingshot to Luffy's back
before getting hit with Mr.5's explosive "breath gunshot", knocking him out but bringing
Luffy back into battle.
