ONE PIECE glossary: G-L
[A-F / M-R / S-Z]
- THE GOING-MERRY (go-inngu meri- gou / ship)
- A caravelle designed by Mary. This ship was donated to the Luffy Pirate Fleet by Kaya for their work in
preventing Kuro's evil plans from manifesting upon their town. After the battle in Kokoyashi, the 2nd floor of
the deck becomes a miniature orange orchard.
- GOMU-GOMU NO MI (devil fruit)
- See GUM-GUM FRUIT.
- GOSA (location)
- A little town in the East Blue. A few weeks before Usopp and Johnny made it there, Arlong and his fleet
completely demolished the townand left every building standing upside down.
- GRAND LINE (idainaru kouro (gurandorainn) / location)
- The ultimate sailing path for pirates, it starts out at the city that is known to be the center of the
Red Line and circumnavigates the globe in a fashioin perpendicular to the Red Line. This route, known as "the
grave of the pirates" to some and as "paradise" to others, is an extremely perilous route so much that only
Gold Roger has been able to complete the voyage on it. Therefore, the treasure One Piece is said to lie
somewhere on the Grand Line.
The reason why the Grand Line is feared so much is that it is sandwiched by two Calm Belts, all normal
techniques of navigation means nothing (as weather is completely unpredictable and you need a Log Pose or an
Eternal Pose to go anywhere), and there are three human forces that "control" the path; one of the forces
being the Seven Armed Seas.
- GRAND MARNIER (guran/manie / food/drink)
- A wonderful (but relatively expensive) orange-flavored liquor made from cognac and orange peel. Its subtle
sweetness and tangy orange flavor is wonderful by itself or as an accent in many desserts. In our case, Sanji
serves Nami a small brandy sniffer of this fabulous liquor as a dessert liquor to go along with his
Fruits Macedonia... but remember to obey your country's laws about drinking! (I guess drinking age in the One
Piece world is 18.... ^^;;)
- GREAT MARCH OF THE PUSSY-WILLOWS (nekoyanagi daikoushinn / attack)
- One of Nyaban Brothers' attacks where the two brothers line up side by side and scratch their way through to
the opponent, much like a military march.
- GREAT WAR SPEAR (daisensou / weapon)
- Krieg's ultimate weapon. A massive spear combined with Krieg's two shoulder pads creates this spear that weighs
1 metric ton. The special thing about this is that it creates an explosion upon impact, and the explosion
proportional to the amount of force put on the spear.
- GUM-GUM BALLOON (gomugomu no fuusen / attack)
- Luffy's ultimate way of averting flying ammunition: he sucks in so much air that he turns into
a balloon. (think go go gadget balloon and you got the idea)
- GUM-GUM BATTLEAXE (gomugomu no ono / attack)
- Luffy's version of a heel-drop, where he stretches one leg high into the air, and drops his heel straight
down from waaaay up in the sky.
- GUM-GUM BAZOOKA (gomugomu no bazu-ka / attack)
- Luffy's two-handed attck where he bends both arms far back, and uses the recoil off of both arms to simultaneously
hit the target (in a shape similar to that of the initial Kamehameha of Dragon Ball).
- GUM-GUM BELL (gomugomu no kane / attack)
- A close-range attack of a sort where Luffy pulls his head far back, and gives the target one nasty headbutt
(and thus, this attack works better if Luffy is clinging to the target).
- GUM-GUM BULLET (gomugomu no dangann (buletto) / attack)
- Similar to the Gum-Gum Pistol, but in this case, the arm comes completely straight like the path of a bullet after
being fired out of the pistol.
- GUM-GUM FRUIT (gomugomu no mi / devil fruit)
- The first devil fruit of the series. Luffy ate it when he was seven years old. This particular nut turns the
eater's body into rubber that is on occasion tougher than steel.
- GUM-GUM GATTLING (gomugomu no gatorinngu / attack)
- Luffy's two-handed attack where he pounds the targets with repeated blows coming from both arms so quickly
that it seems like he is elongating about 10 or 20 arms to punch the target out, like a gattling gun.
- GUM-GUM HAMMER (gomugomu no tsuchi / attack)
- Luffy's two-handed attack where he twists his two arms together, grabs the target, and uses the
unwinding recoil to dizzify the target, then slam the dizzy target into the ground.
- GUM-GUM LARGE HAMMER (gomugomu no ootsuchi / attack)
- Similar to a Gum-Gum Hammer, but in this case Luffy uses his legs instead of his arms.
- GUM-GUM LARGE SCYTHE (gomugomu no ookama / attack)
- What happens when the Gum-Gum Scythe is done with both arms simultaneously.
- GUM-GUM PISTOL (gomugomu no juu (pisutolu) / attack)
- The first attack Luffy uses in the series. One arm (either will do) gets swung back then
elongated forwards to hit the target like someone shooting a pistol.
- GUM-GUM ROCKET (gomugomu no roketto / attack)
- Similar to the Gum-Gum Pistol, but in this case, Luffy uses the elongated arm to grab something of higher
elevation, and uses the recoil to quickly reach a footing higher above ground.
- GUM-GUM SCYTHE (gomugomu no kama / attack)
- Luffy's attack where he uses something similar to the Gum-Gum Rocket to propel himself sideways, then attacks
with his other arm in a fashion similar to a lariat.
- GUM-GUM SPEAR (gomugomu no yari / attack)
- Luffy's foot attack where he stands on his head and puts the soles of his feet together, and extends
the legs in such a way that the toes become the point of a spear.
- GUM-GUM WHIP (gomugomu no muchi / attack)
- One of Luffy's foot attacks where he elongates his foot to sweep the legs and torsoes of multiple
targets (like a group of Marines heading towards him).

- See MERMAN PIRATE FLEET.
- HANSWURST (brand)
- Design on the shirt of one of Buggy's crew.
- HEAD CHEF DROP (ryourichou doroppu / attack)

his fake leg on your abdomen.
- HEAD CHEF FAKE LEG KICK (ryourichou gisoku kikku / attack)
- Zeff's side-kick. That wood ramming against your neck has got to hurt!

- See DEADLY LEAD STAR,
- HISSATSU TABASCOBOSHI(attack)

- See SINGLE-STEM VASE.
- INDIGESTION MEATBALL (shokuatari hougan (mi-tobo-ru) / attack)
- The name of the cannonball that shoots out of Pati's fish-shaped mini-cannon. Relatively effective.
- ITELZBULGER SCHTEIN (iterutsuburuga- shutainn / food/drink)
- The wine that Fullbody named when he was trying to show off. Of course, Sanji didn't pour it. Question remains
on whether or not Zeff even told Sanji to pour it... =)
- ITOO (food/drink)
- A brand of alcoholic beverage, served in Party's Bar. Perhaps it is Shanks' favorite brand...
- KAIGUN (group)
- See MARINE.
- KAIZOKUOU (title)
- See PIRATE KING.
- KAJI OYAJI (attack)

- KAMIHITOE (slang)

- KINKAI NO NUSHI (creature)
- See MASTER OF THE NEAR SEAS.
- KIRIHANASHI (attack)

- KNUCKLE-CRACKING (habit)
- It has been noted that there are people out there that can crack the knuckles in their fingers just by bending
them a certain way, like Luffy always does.
- KRIEG PIRATE FLEET (kuri-ku kaizokudann / group)
- Known to many as the Pirate Armada (kaizoku kanntai), this was one of the premeire pirate fleets
in East Blue. Their flag features a rather long, narrow skull with "fins" on both sides, crossbones, and two
hourglasses standing on either side of the skull. The fleet, led by Krieg, was once 50 ships and 5000 men large.
But on the seventh day of heir voyage into the Grand Line, the entire fleet was decimated by one man (Mihawk?).
- KURONEKO KAIZOKUDAN (group)
- See BLACK CAT PIRATE FLEET.

- See (CAT-KILL) CAT THE STOMPED.
- KUSO (slang)
- See SHIT.
- LET'S CLIMB A MOUNTAIN (yama noboro- / attack)
- Kabaji's acrobatic trick that has him climbing a vertical wall with his unicycle, done while the
target is distracted with the 100-top Theatre.
- LITTLE EGGPLANT (chibinasu / slang)
- Zeff's favorite derogatory name for Sanji.
- LOG POSE (logu po-su / key item)
- The compass of the Grand Line, it can absorb the navigational path necessary from one location to another.
However, how long it takes for the Log Pose to absorb the path to the next destination varies by island/continent.
- LUFFY PIRATE FLEET (lufi- kaizokudann / group)
- The entourage of the protagonists. Currently seven(?) members (and a pet) large. Their flag is a typical
jolly-roger, but the skull wears the trademark straw hat.
