Business
Arlong's gang notices Nami doesn't look too happy with Usopp being captured.
She gets irritated that they had to butt in right before her business with
Arlong was done. Usopp asks her how she can betray Luffy who still thinks of
her as a member of his crew. Nami tells him that the guys were ruining the
eight years of business she had been doing with Arlong, and she stabs Usopp.
The mermen laugh as she kicks him into the ocean. One merman tells Nami that
the only reason she deals with them is so she can buy her hometown to find
the treasure hidden in it, but Arlong tells her that he will keep the
promise and hand her the town when she has the money. Meanwhile, Luffy and
Sanji (with Yosaku) arrive on the island.

To Live
Bellemere tells the townsfolk that she will raise Nojiko and Nami. The two
kids grew up healthy and strong (albeit a little troublesome). The
thoughts of all these happy years cross Nojiko and Nami's minds
as they watch Arlong's gun emit smoke - and Bellemere's lifeless
body falls to the ground. One of the other mermen finds Nami's
stack of maps, and decides to take Nami with him. Gen tries to
save Nami, but Nami tells him he didn't need to because she didn't
want anyone else to die. Later, just as the townsfolk get ready to
fight Arlong's crew to get Nami back, she walks back to town to
inform them that she was going to join their crew, that she
doesn't want to live justly if it meant death. Gen tells her that
she was no longer welcome in the town. Nojiko later finds Nami at
Bellemere's grave, where she is told that Nami is going to buy the
whole town from Arlong for 100 million Berries because there was
no other way to survive.
