Back when Kibo first created his web site, many of the internal pages had little animated GIF's as banners at the top of the screen. In 2003, shortly after the death of Bob Hope, Kibo decided to retire these banners. Kibo said that he thought the banners were dated, not to mention annoying and lame. Well, that may have been true, but they were dated, annoying, and lame in an interesting fashion, and I don't think that they should be lost forever to the recycle bin of history. So here are all of the Kibology animated banners that I was able to recover, preserved for posterity.
This is the one that became obsolete on July 27, 2003 when Bob Hope actually died. In 1998, there had been rumors of his death that turned out to be greatly exaggerated. But let's face it, he didn't do very much in those last five years.
Parody of the "Love Tester" quarter-eating games that used to be found in bars.
The passage of the Communications Decency Act in 1996 sparked a vigorous protest from the Internet community. (The act was struck down in 1997 when the Supreme Court of the United States declared it unconstitutional. Read about it here.) Of course Kibo had to protest the protestors.
This is one of my favorites. KibOs - it's an operating system and part of a complete breakfast!
A funny, yet topical and dated, advertisement for Kibology. This parodies that Budweiser commercial with the frogs, which first aired during the Super Bowl in 1995.
An advertisement for a television show that airs in Kibonia.
Almost everyone has a blinking twelve somewhere in their house. (Mine is on my 50-CD player. Why does a CD player need to know the time? It's always time to rock.)
Spot goes kerblooey.
I voted for Kibo in the 1998 Presidential elections. I think he won, too, but I'm not sure exactly what he was elected President of.
Some righteous Kibological quotes.
More quotes from the collective wisdom of alt.religion.kibology, or wherever.
And one more paid political advertisement.
Those are all of the Kibological animated banners that I could find. If anyone has any more, please feel free to let me know.
