Donate at least $1000 to charitable organizations.
Given that I had several other goals which would require a large amount
of financial outlay, the amount here would seem to be a bit excessive.
On the other hand, after doing my 1996 tax returns, I discovered that if I
had indeed donated this much, I would have wound up with a modest tax break.
Unfortunately I didn't live up to my idealism on this one. I'm going to have
to try again in 1997.
