ONE PIECE Original Video Anime for the Jump Super Anime Tour Back in 1998 before the television series was announced, an short animated version of ONE PIECE was created to be shown as part of the Jump Super Anime Tour triple-header (along with HUNTER x HUNTER and SEIKIMATSU LEADER-(GAI)DEN TAKESHI!). For those that missed entry to the JSAT, Weekly Jump held a giveaway of a VHS copy of the movie in the beginning of 1999—all you had to do was send in the coupon, along with 500 yen in stamps, back to the editorial office. The problem with this? Overseas fans were gypped (as Shueisha doesn't ship overseas like most Japanese publishers), and if you weren't reading Jump at that time, you didn't even know they were offering (unless you read all the fans jumping up and down on the ONE PIECE websites in Japan). Perhaps as a means of (re)telling the original side-story to those that couldn't see this film (and couldn't get the video), a novelization of the movie has been written, and has been published under Jump's novel line, JUMP J BOOKS.
